Based on the above description, it appears that you’re unable to access printer on Windows 8 computer.

Before we proceed troubleshooting this issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions
1.Were there any recent changes made to the computer prior to the issue?
2.What exactly happens when you try to print/connect the printer?
3.Are you getting any error message?
4.Does the printer get detected in Device Manager?
I would suggest you to follow the steps provided and update us on the status of the issue.

Method 1:
Disable and re-enable all the Universal Serial Bus controllers (USB) controllers.
The USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.
To disable and re-enable the USB controllers, follow these steps:
a) Open Device Manager.
b) Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
c) Note: You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.
d) Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall to remove it.
e) Repeat the above step for each USB controller that is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
f) Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and

g) Reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.
Method 2:
I would suggest you to uninstall the Printer drivers and then try to install the drivers in Windows 8 compatibility mode to check if that works.
Step 1: Uninstall the Printer driver from Device Manager.
Follow the steps:
a. Open Device Manger.
b. Search for Printer driver.
c. Right click the Printer driver and click uninstall.
d. Follow the prompt and restart the computer.

Step 2: Install the driver in Windows 8 compatibility mode:
To install the driver in Windows 8 compatibility mode, right-click on the setup file of the driver and then click on ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’ and select Windows 8 to follow the prompt.
