Apr 19, 2018 I will preface this answer that I’m female and don’t know much about cars other than what I think is fun to drive and attractive. I drive a 328i coupe with a sport package and manual transmission. I specifically went on the hunt for this set up be. European lamps also have a mogul base, but it is slightly different from the E-39 and is called E40. The differences are small enough that the E40 base lamps will work fine in the typical E39 mogul base used in the U.S. Double-ended 150-watt lamps use the RSC (RX7s) base, while the 250-watt double-ended lamps use the Fc2 base.

5 years agoI know a lot if this is subjective, and it's been covered before. For that, I apologize for beating the dead horse.
My interest is in getting a car that has four doors, can be daily driven, manual, and is in the 300hp and above range.
I had my sights set on a WRX or STI, but I'm becoming disenchanted by turbo cars (maybe I'm not driving the right ones?). I like the idea that I can go into the 5 series without feeling the need to 'upgrade all the things!'

I can buy 540's for considerably less in my area (though neither is local enough, nor will I waste a private seller's time without solid intent, for me to casually test drive).
I will do my own maintenance, and after researching parts, it seems like costs will be fairly equal.
I don't think the M badge is that important to me, but I want to avoid buyer's remorse as much as possible.
Ha, maybe I just need someone to tell me it's ok to have the M5, that I can 'settle' just fine with the 540.
